Furs don’t have to be strictly for keeping warm. In lighter weights and constructions furs make an outfit stand out with a little glam and can be worn many ways.
We’ve compiled some of the best tips to allow you to wear your fur to its fullest, whether in snow or shine!
Drape yourself in a cape or a shawl
Fur apparel is as flexible as any other material, meaning you can reasonably pull off quite a few distinct and elegant looks! On those days where it’s too warm out to wear a full coat, but too chilly to go bare-shouldered, consider breaking out a fur cape. This is he perfect time to wear your layering pieces – cashmere capes and shawls, lightweight vests and cropped jackets in cool spring colors.
A lightweight scarf draped around the shoulders is like putting on a fabulous piece of jewelry.
Color is key
Dark, heavy colors are best suited for winter when you’re bundled up and the world outside is all monochromes and neutrals.
For spring, however, you will be better off sticking to light-colored furs. These colors won’t just keep you cooler on a physical level, but they’ll pair perfectly with the seasonal mood! Pop them on top of muted neutrals for a fun pop of color. Don't hesitate to use the color filter when you're on a collection page to select the color you prefer.
A vest is best
If you want to wear fur on your person, as opposed incorporating it into your outfit as an accessory, the best way to do this is in vest form. Buy a vest in a light fox fur, which promotes air flow, meaning you won’t get too hot. Short vests won’t make you stand out as somebody who looks out of place for the season, and best of all, they look great with just about any other item of clothing.
As for the heavier items in your wardrobe, store your full-length pieces — anything with volume that you wear to stay warm. Large fur items should be kept in a cool, dry place during summer. If you want to know more about storage, check our article on how to take care of your fur coats.
And of course, you can still buy heavy fur coats early if you don't want to miss out on your crush!
Happy Spring!
